Transform Worry

Sometimes as Christians we look around our cities, states, and the nation at large, and become very concerned about the things we see happening in the good old USA. And these concerns often increase and we cross over into worry and anxiety. That’s never good. The Lord Jesus teaches us that worry is wrong.

So, what do we do? How do we keep our concerns from transforming into worries, fears, and worse?

We must see these concerns as an opportunity. When concerns arise in your hearts this is actually the work of the Holy Spirit. He causes us to see the actions of ourselves and others in the light of God’s Word. This makes our eyes and ears sensitive to what is going on around us. So, it isn’t a bad thing.

But, then the old enemy realizes what is going on, and our flesh bucks our sensitive Christ-like spirit. We then are tempted to trade that healthy concern for these other things. And, if not stopped, we can descend into despondency and depression.

So, when concerns come into your heart, they are there for a reason. The Holy Spirit has caused you to be sensitive to evil. And when you become concerned, that is His prompt for prayer. Yes, that’s right, the Spirit of God is prompting you to pray. That’s why you get so concerned about the things going on in this country.

The next time you begin to feel tempted to allow your concerns to get out of hand and cross over into worry, remember what they are there for. It is time to pray! Lift up your eyes, and look to the Author and Finisher of our faith. He knows your concerns, He gave them to you. But, He wants you to cry out to Him, and cast all your cares His way.

Heavenly Father, give us the wisdom to know the difference between healthy concerns and worry, doubt, and fear. Lead us away from the temptation to trade for these cheap things that will hurt us. Let us follow Christ in bringing all of our concerns before the Throne of Heaven. In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ I pray and praise You, Amen.

  1. So often I let the concerns lead to discouragement and depression; thanks for the admonishment to pray!
